I always like to say that you have to love the skin that you’re in

I suppose you could call me an influencer, though I hate that term. I think it’s unfortunate that people are labeled by what they do, it seems like such a shallow way to define ourselves. I feel like being your authentic self about something that you’re really passionate about shouldn’t be something people make fun of you for, you know? But I keep at it, because my followers really benefit from my experiences and what I know about looking and staying young. I always like to say that you have to love the skin that you’re in, and so I just wake up every day and try to do the best that I can for everyone who follows me on YouTube and TikTok and help them learn how to keep that skin glowing.

A lot of people who get into skincare have these long, drawn-out rituals, and I have some of those, too, though some of mine are my little private secrets just between my team and I. The key thing to remember is that, even when it seems like it’s a lot of work — and maybe, especially when it seems like a lot of work — there’s just not a price you can put on youth. Expensive doesn’t really matter, right, like, it’s your life we’re talking about. Who doesn’t want to feel young forever? I really think that my focus on how to preserve your youth is what speaks to all of my followers out on social media.

I grew up in Hungary. I come from a family of means, and I’m not really very shy about that. Everyone talks about nepo babies or whatever, but I feel like I’m doing something really good for the world by sharing what I’ve had the time, and of course, the luxury, to learn. Believe it or not, I grew up in a castle! How cool is that? Last year I took my followers through a tour of where I grew up on my YouTube series. One of the main things I learned from growing up in a castle is how much your lived environment around you can have an impact on your skin. In the winters, our halls would get so dry and smoky from the fireplaces, all winter long, your skin would just feel like dry paper. Then, in the spring, it would rain, all the time, everywhere! Good luck trying to straighten your hair in that weather! I learned how to carefully balance my own secret blend of masks, baths and facials to help myself look my best in any season, but it took a lot of experimenting. I started with small creams and tinctures made from the local ingredients around our land and gradually started finding what works and doing bigger experiments that I’d play around with in the bath and record in my notes.

I don’t have any official training, though I’ve attended so many Zoom lectures with dermatologists that I feel like I am owed an honorary degree. But I just feel like this is the kind of thing that can come naturally to you, particularly if you take the time to really learn what works. Being ready to take that next step whenever it’s presented to you is soooo important. I’m not really on Facebook very much anymore, my team helps manage our Groups, but I still like to drop in there from time-to-time to hear about all the ways we’re helping people preserve their youth out there, every day

My rituals, as I like to call them, have actually gotten less complicated over the years. I used to be more into more complicated ingredients, like, figuring out the right balance of glycolic and salicylic acid for brightening. I still use a lovely blend that includes baltic amber powder, which is made from the powder of fossilized resin that comes from ancient trees along the Baltic sea. Baltic amber powder is great for exfoliation, but it also helps to settle your mind and center you, and I’ve heard that it’s also great for your immune system. I’m not a doctor, though, I just know, for certain, that it’s a fantastic part of my daily little rituals that helps keep my skin feel fresh and soft. Some of my followers know all about this, I did a series of Stories on how baltic amber powder is made and how we import ours from Lithuania.

I enjoy having these little secrets that never leave my little castle up on the hill.

I think it’s so important for anyone who has so many followers like I do, to keep a little part of themselves for them, and keep it away from social media. I don’t think it’s good for someone like me to have everything in their life be public. I don’t have any secrets from my team, of course — they’re part of this, and my wins are their wins, too — but there are a few small things I keep to myself. I enjoy having these little secrets that never leave my little castle up on the hill. I think that’s part of the secret of staying young, too, keeping a few things for yourself.
But, you know what? I’ll share one of those little secrets just with you. I know a lot of other skincare experts have started moving to plant-based products, and it may not be very “woke” of me or whatever, but I have to tell you, I think there are still a few benefits you can get out of animal-based products that you just can’t get with the vegan or chemical blends. Of course, I absolutely don’t condone cruelty, but I think there’s a little bit of truth to the idea that death sometimes has to pay for life. I shouldn’t even be saying this to you, my Threads mentions are going to be terrible when this comes out! My team and I pay the utmost attention to ethically sourcing our ingredients, everything we use is local to this area, but like I tell them, sometimes a little sweat and blood have to go into our most important wins.
